Все цветоводы проявляют повышенный интерес к теме укрытия роз, так как только укрытые по правилам кусты роз перезимуют хорошо, а если были допущены ошибки, то даже самые сильные растения могут погибнуть от мороза или во время оттепели.
1. Когда укрывать розы? Первая ошибка, которую допускают садоводы – это неправильно выбранное время для укрытия роз. Вызревшие стебли роз спокойно перенесут похолодание до -10…-13 градусов. Укрывать розы нужно, когда наступит устойчивая прохладная погода, но ещё нет сильного мороза.
В разных регионах и в зависимости от погоды розы укрывают с середины октября до середины ноября. В это время уже закончились дожди, температура опустилась ниже ноля, может выпасть первый снег.
Если укрыть розы раньше, то стебли под укрытием пока тепло начнут запревать. Небольшие отрицательные температуры закаливают стебли роз и подготавливают их к зимним морозам.
2. Как обрезать розы осенью? Перед укрытием розы обрезают согласно сортовым особенностям.
Многие садоводы против любой обрезки роз и считают, что лучше все ветки целиком пригибать к земле, так как любая рана – это ворота для инфекции с окружающей среды. Чтобы розы после обрезки защитить, срезы от крупных веток нужно замазать садовым варом или залить парафином от горящей свечи.
Чайно-гибридные розы обрезают на высоте около 50 см, удаляя все невызревшие красные верхушки побегов. После обрезки с веток обрывают все листочки.
Плетистые розы не обрезают, длинные ветки снимают с опоры и укладывают на поверхность земли, на подстилку из сухих дубовых листьев или из нетканого материала. Веточки роз рекомендуется очистить от листьев и увядших цветков, так как они могут стать источником развития гнилей под укрытием.
3. Чем укрывать розы? Укрытие для роз на зиму должно быть в первую очередь дышащим, поэтому плёнка, пластиковое ведро или коробка для этого не подходит, так как под такой защитой нет движения воздуха, во время оттепели создаются благоприятные условия для развития грибных и бактериальных условий, в итоге стебли роз не замерзают, а выпревают.
Не рекомендуется во время оттепели использовать мелкие опилки, так как они слёживаются и напитываются влагой, как губка. Опилки для укрытия роз должны быть в виде стружки, крупные как щепа, такой материал не слёживается, пропускает воздух, просыхает после намокания.
Есть способ засыпания роз сухой землёй, но он иногда даёт сбои в зависимости от погоды зимой и в начале весны. Укрытие из земли схоже с мелкими опилками, к весне почва пропитается влагой при таянии снега и стебли роз при оттепели начнут гнить.
Нельзя розы с осени мульчировать навозом, так как он является источником грибных и бактериальных заболеваний.
Классическое укрытие для роз – это лапник и воздухопроницаемый материал – мешковина или спанбонд.
Укрытие розы на зиму пошагово:
— Вначале розу обрезаю на высоте 50 см.
— Вокруг рассыпаю сухие листья, собранные в парке. Мульча из листьев защитит корневую систему от морозов, пока нет снежного покрова.
— Если нет возможности пригнуть стебли роз к земле, их нужно связать в пучок.
— Вокруг связанной в пучок розы размещаю ветки любого хвойного дерева иголочками вниз. Связываю лапник в пучок вверху и в основании.
— Сверху укрытия хвоёй обматываю спанбондом два слоя и обвязываю укрытие вверху и внизу, чтобы ветер не растрепал материал.
Итак, роза надёжно укрыта и готова к зиме. Сквозь такое укрытие будет проходить воздух, поэтому во время оттепели стебли розы не загниют и останутся здоровы.
