Слово «бордюр» (фр. bordure) означает «окаймление». Бордюры — это насаждения, окаймляющие посадки растений, расположенные по контуру клумбы, вдоль газона либо дорожки. Устраивают их обычно из низкорослых однолетних или многолетних красивоцветущих либо декоративно-лиственных растений. Возможно использование низкорослых кустарников. Желательно, чтобы ширина бордюра не превышала 50 см, а высота 30-40 см.
