Семена аниса сохраняют всхожесть до 3 лет. Прорастают они очень медленно из-за толстой оболочки и большого содержания эфирных масел, поэтому перед посевом их на 2-3 суток намачивают в воде, которую периодически меняют.
Семена сеют на грядки в первой половине мая на глубину 2-3 см. Всходы появляются на 15—20-й день и легко переносят небольшие весенние заморозки. До цветения анис растет очень медленно.
