4. При выборе цветов для украшения балкона или террасы нужно учесть освещённость данного места. На южной стороне под палящими солнечными лучами выживут немногие цветы. Более благоприятные условия для выращивания в горшках и ящиках будут с восточной или западной стороны строений, где солнце бывает только утром или вечером и в полдень нет сильной жары.
Петуния – это лучшее растение для выращивания в горшках, вазонах или балконных ящиках. Петуния очень обильно цветёт, так что не видно зелени. Сорта петунии можно выбирать не только по окраске цветков, но и по форме роста растений. Для выращивания на высоте в подвесных кашпо или балконных ящиках предпочтительны ампельные и каскадные сорта. У цветов петунии есть минус, они портятся под дождём и из-за ветра, но в плохую погоду растения в горшках можно перемещать под укрытие. Цветы герани не повредит дождь или ветер, но корни растений могут загнить из-за переувлажнения и застоя воды в земле. Герань можно вырастить из семян или размножить через укоренение черенков. Вербена гибридная имеет компактные пышные кустики с яркими цветками собранные в плотные щитки. Вербена солнцелюбива, засухоустойчива, неприхотлива, но требует раннего посева в начале марта, чтобы к концу мая получить растения в начальной фазе цветения.

Колеус не цветущее растение, а декоративно-лиственное. Яркая окраска листьев колеуса может соперничать с любыми цветами. Размножается колеус просто черенками и семенами.
