Семена растений в природе проходят естественную стратификацию, так как большинство семян созревает к осени, даже упав на землю пока тепло, они не прорастают. Дело в том, что в семечке заложена информация, о том, что должен наступить продолжительный холодный период – зима и если оно прорастёт, то погибнет. Поэтому только после пребывания продолжительное время в холоде в семенах происходит запуск биохимических процессов для прорастания.

Как узнать какие семена цветов требуют стратификации?

Большинство семян многолетников, кустарников и деревьев перед посевом должны пройти стратификацию, то есть, как природе перезимовать, чтобы прорасти. При посеве семян цветов и декоративных растений проверьте по списку, не требуется ли какой либо культуре стратификация.

Список семян цветов требующих стратификацию: аквилегия, аризема, анемона, горечавка, дельфиниум многолетний, купальница, лаванда, рутовник, клематис, княжик, клопогон, многолетняя фиалка, морозник, альпийский колокольчик, джеферсония, ирис, лаванда, примула, прострел и др.

Большинство семян цветов прорастает после мягкой стратификации  при температуре от -1 до +3 градусов в течение месяца, такие условия легко создать в холодильнике. Но некоторым семенам требуется промораживание , чтобы получить толчок к прорастанию, в основном это альпийские растения ,приспособленные к суровому климату , например горечавка.

Как провести стратификацию семян в домашних условиях?

В январе наступило время посева растений, семена которых требуют стратификацию в течение 1-2 месяцев, тогда их всходы можно получить в конце февраля – в марте и в мае высадить в грунт полноценную рассаду. Конечно, посев таких растений можно провести под зиму, но часто они не удаются, из-за того что семена смывают талые воды, в основном это относится к мелким семенам, которые нужно высевать по поверхности земли, не присыпая сверху. Также подзимние посевы могут пострадать из-за внезапных оттепелей, после которых следуют морозы, тогда проклюнувшиеся семена погибают.

Хороший процент всхожести можно получить при проведении стратификации в домашних условиях, одним из предложенных ниже способов:

1. Важно для посева семян подготовить качественную землю, она должна быть рыхлой, не слеживаться после поливов, для этого садовую почву смешивают с торфом и вермикулилом или песком,  можно купить магазинную землю для рассады. Посев семян для стратификации проводят по всем правилам в небольшие горшочки или пластиковые ёмкости, их закрывают пакетом или крышкой для сохранения влаги и помещают в холодильник, где стабильно держится температура от 0 до +3 градусов, на месяц. Такую мягкую стратификацию предпочитает большинство цветов – примулы, анемоны, аквилегии, дельфиниум и др.

2. Второй способ проведения стратификации семян в домашних условиях для тех, кто не хочет держать посевы в холодильнике, так как они занимают много места и соседство с продуктами их нежелательно. Посевы на стратификацию можно выставить на застеклённый балкон или лоджию, не отапливаемую веранду, в сарай, в теплицу, присыпав сверху снегом. Обычно  температура в таких помещениях чуть выше, чем на улице и не опускается ниже – 15 градусов. Если держать посевы на улице, то их нужно засыпать хорошим слоем снега не менее 20-30 см, так как сильный мороз семена могут не выдержать.

3. Третий способ ещё проще, можно посев семян в землю сделать после стратификации. Для этого семена помещают на влажную ткань или марлю, заворачивают в пакет, чтобы ткань не высыхала,  помещают в холодильник на месяц, но не в морозильник. Через месяц – полтора после стратификации проводят посев семян и держат в теплом месте для прорастания.

Закончив выдерживать семена в холоде, посевы верните  в тепло для прорастания. В комнате на подоконнике при регулярном поливе через одну две недели должны появиться всходы. Далее продолжайте уход за рассадой цветов по правилам до высадки в грунт.
