Семена высевают на рассаду в марте (цветение начнется через 6-7 недель) поверхностно и накрывают стеклом или пленкой. Всходы появляются через 7-14 дней. На постоянное место высаживают в конце мая, после возвратных весенних заморозков, на расстоянии 10-15 см друг от друга. Почва должна быть постоянно влажной, но не переувлажненной. Высаживая на постоянное место, растения прищипывают, что стимулирует ветвление. В течение вегетации регулярно поливают и каждые 10-14 дней подкармливают.

У мимулюса очень яркие ароматные цветки, поэтому его высаживают в саду отдельной группой, без соседей.
