Заготовленные в конце сентября — октябре либо купленные в овощном магазине корнеплоды высаживают в горшки или ящики. При покупке корнеплодов обратите внимание на их состояние: не подморожены ли они, нет ли на них каких-либо вредителей или признаков болезней.
Перед посадкой всю тару дезинфицируют 3%-ным раствором медного купороса. Высаживают корнеплоды так, чтобы головка была снаружи, а ростовые почки не засыпаны землей. Это очень важно для предупреждения различных гнилей.
Если корнеплод в горшок не умещается, его обрезают снизу или высаживают наклонно. Срезы обязательно присыпают толченым углем. В один горшок диаметром 12 см сажают 3-4 корнеплода петрушки.
