Весной, в начале отрастания листьев, растения желательно подкормить раствором коровяка и повторять подкормки после каждой срезки или через 20-30 дней. В первый год нарастают листья, затем появляются подземные луковички.
Со второго года при посадке крупных воздушных луковичек образуется стрелка с бульбочками, которые могут располагаться в несколько ярусов. Луковички с первого яруса используются в пищу, со второго и третьего — для посадки. Чтобы получить более крупные бульбочки, рост стрелки ограничивают, прищипывая ее после образования второго или первого яруса.
