Представители рода Голубика широко распространены в умеренном и холодом поясах Евразии и Северной Америки. Хотя их дикорастущие «плантации» (а ягоды съедобны практически у всех видов голубики) издавна использовались людьми для сбора ягод, в систематике этого рода остается много белых пятен, даже точное количество входящих в него видов в разных источниках отличается на порядок, что объясняется как большим разнообразием форм внутри любого ее вида, так и недостаточным интересом исследователей. На территории бывшего Советского Союза чаще всего и в наибольших количествах встречается вид голубика топяная, известный также под названиями гонобобель, водопьянка, пьяница и болотный виноград.

Окультуриванием голубики целенаправленно у нас, да и в большинстве европейских стран почти не занимались, больше полагаясь на ее природные запасы (на любительском уровне оно сводилось к простому переносу особо удачных экземпляров из леса в сады). Гораздо больше внимания уделили ей американские селекционеры, создавшие, по сути, несколько новых видов — голубику высокорослую, голубику низкорослую и некоторые другие, являющихся, как правило, межвидовыми гибридами. Тем не менее голубика обладает немалым количеством достоинств, что делает ее как культуру весьма перспективной.

Биологические особенности
Голубика топяная (голубика болотная, голубика обыкновенная) {рис. 6) — листопадный кустарничек с подземными побегами, благодаря которым в благоприятных условиях может разрастаться в колонии (хотя обычно не столь выраженные и обширные, как у некоторых других брусничных). Дикорастущая голубика очень полиморфна, отдельные растения и их популяции под влиянием самых различных факторов обладают разными размерами, формой куста, формой и вкусом ягод. Высота куста может колебаться в пределах от 3 см до 1,2 м при диаметре в среднем 50—70 см.

Корни голубики топяной, как и у многих других брусничных и вересковых, пребывают в симбиозе с почвенными грибами, обогащающими почву азотом и косвенно помогающими растению лучше укореняться, причем грибница сращивается с ними весьма плотно. Стебли одревесневающие, сильно разветвленные; кора коричнево-бурая (на молодых побегах может иметь красноватый оттенок). Листья некрупные, простые, от обратнояйцевидных до эллиптических; листовая пластинка сверху зеленая или темно-зеленая с более светлыми жилками, снизу сизая.

Цветет в конце мая — июне. Цветки кувшинчатые, изящной формы, но мелкие, белые с розоватым оттенком, нередко белый и розовый цвета распределены по венчику неравномерно. Аромат слабый, но приятный. Голубика — однодомное перекрестно опыляемое растение, опылителями служат насекомые (в основном шмели и пчелы). Ягоды созревают в августе— сентябре и сохраняются на кустиках до октября. Плоды мелкие (до 12 мм длиной при ширине 7—8 мм), овальные, похожи на ягоды черники, темно-синие с густым сизо-голубым налетом, из-за которого кажутся просто голубыми (свое название голубика получила именно из-за их окраски), внутри зеленоватые. Семена очень мелкие, многочисленные, светло-коричневые.
Вегетационный период у голубики топяной очень короткий, что позволяет успешно выращивать ее в самых отдаленных северных регионах. Плодоносить при вегетативном размножении обычно начинает на 4—5-й (в зависимости от условий и позже), при семенном — на 7—8-й год, далее плодоносит регулярно. Голубика живет довольно долго — в среднем около 90 лет.

Голубика топяная весьма морозоустойчива и на редкость нетребовательна к почвам — она способна расти не только на болотах и в прочих сырых местах (самое частое ее естественное место обитания), но и в каменистой тундре, на самых бедных малоплодородных и слишком кислых для большинства других растений почвах. Несмотря на то что болота считаются ее основным домом, длительного застойного переувлажнения она не любит (собственно как и засухи). В целом же способность приспосабливаться к разнообразным условиям является одним из ее достоинств.

Голубика высокорослая (у нас этот вид более известен под названием голубика американская). Этот искусственно созданный американскими селекционерами вид имеет гибридное происхождение и объединяет в себе качества прежде всего голубики низкой, голубики щитковидной и голубики южной. В отличие от других известных голубик, голубика высокорослая является настоящим кустарником в среднем 1,5—2,0 м высотой, с крупными, 5—8 см длиной листьями (как у вишни).

Летом листовая пластина зеленая (сверху блестящая, снизу матовая, по цвету верх и низ отличаются не столь сильно), зимой приобретает декоративную яркую окраску (в зависимости от сорта — от желтой до пурпурной). Цветет со второй половины мая в течение 3—4 недель. Цветки похожи на цветки голубики топяной, но собраны в кисти, что делает их более декоративными. Ягоды крупнее, чем у голубики топяной (до 2,5 см в диаметре), и не вытянутые, а округлые и нередко даже уплощенные, что делает их еще больше похожими на ягоды черники, хотя сама их кисть внешне напоминает таковую у красной и белой смородины — в ней может находиться несколько десятков ягод. По вкусу они более сладкие и очень ароматные. Сроки созревания различны и зависят от конкретного сорта. На кусте ягоды держатся около 12 дней.

Вегетационный период американской голубики — 160—165 дней. В плодоношение голубика высокорослая вступает раньше голубики топяной — на 2—3-й год, однако урожайность наращивает медленно, достигая ее максимума в возрасте 8—10 лет.
Морозоустойчивость этого вида голубики ниже, чем у топяной, ее предел 25—28 °С, причем температуры от -25 °С и ниже в бесснежные зимы она выдерживает только под укрытием (ранние сорта быстрее сбрасывают листья и легче переносят большие морозы). Да и в целом она гораздо требовательней к условиям произрастания, в частности к плодородию грунта, хотя, с другой стороны, способна выдерживать и еще большую кислотность почв (pH 3,5—4,5). Более требовательна она и к уходу, зато существенно выигрывает в урожайности (до 8 кг с куста) и в удобстве сбора плодов (за ними не надо нагибаться).

Еще одна характерная для вида особенность — перекрестное опыление между разными сортами увеличивает количество и улучшает качество ягод, поэтому, чтобы урожай получался более высоким, на одном участке желательно выращивать 2—3 сорта этой голубики.

Голубика низкорослая. Этот вид также имеет искусственное гибридное происхождение и выведен в США в качестве более зимостойкой альтернативы голубике высокорослой. В его создании использовано более десятка низкорослых близкородственных более северных видов, главным образом приспособленных к жизни на песчаных и каменистых почвах, в том числе горных (важное отличие от голубики топяной, на которую голубика низкорослая внешне весьма похожа). Голубика низкорослая растет в виде обширных колониальных куртин-ягодников от 10 до 40 см высотой, распространяющихся вширь с помощью подземных укореняющихся побегов, в результате чего общий диаметр колонии может достигать нескольких метров. У многих сортов стебли стелющиеся. Сроки цветения и плодоношения зависят от сорта, но в целом совпадают с таковыми у голубики топяной. Похожи также ягоды, но у этого вида они чаще имеют округлую форму и собраны в кисти (меньшего размера, чем у голубики высокорослой).

Длительность жизни ягодников голубики низкорослой больше, чем у других голубик, но не в качестве отдельного кустика (его долголетние сравнительно невелико), а собственно как колонии с постоянным обновлением входящих в него экземпляров.

Голубика низкорослая морозоустойчива (до -38—40 °С), нетребовательна к плодородности почвы и, в отличие от других культурных и полукультурных голубик, засухоустойчива.

Кроме того, уже не как отдельный вид, а как сорта существуют гибриды между голубиками высокорослой и низкорослой, обладающие промежуточными качествами (высота куста около 40 см, морозоустойчивость выше, чем у голубики высокорослой, но несколько ниже, чем у низкорослой, усредненный размер ягод и т.п.).

Ценность культуры
Ягоды голубики (всех видов) можно употреблять в пищу свежими, кроме того, их можно сушить замораживать, консервировать и перерабатывать в соки и варенье. По вкусу ягоды голубики топяной кисло-сладкие разной насыщенности (у дикорастущих форм иногда бывают почти безвкусными), у голубики высокорослой — сладкие с небольшой, малозаметной кислинкой, у голубики низкорослой — сладкие.

Ягоды голубики топяной содержат около 6,5 % сахаров (в основном глюкозы и фруктозы, несколько меньше — сахарозы) и около 1 % органических кислот (в основном лимонной и яблочной). Главным лекарственным достоинством ягод голубики являются ее уникальные антиаллергические свойства, причем особенно хорошо они снимают аллергию, вызываемую различными лекарственными препаратами, что делает ее особенно ценной для питания людей, склонных к аллергическим реакциям, в том числе детей, страдающих диатезами. Сок из этих ягод благодаря катехинам и дубильным веществам обладает мягким вяжущим действием и полезен при расстройствах желудка, а отвар листьев голубики топяной, наоборот, рекомендуют при запорах.

Химический состав ягод голубики высокорослой близок к таковому у голубики топяной, но в них содержится еще больше витамина К и особого вещества — бетаина, обладающего выраженными антисклеротическими свойствами.

Голубика низкорослая несколько уступает обеим видам в полезности ягод, но превосходит их в сладости ягод, а также ценится за зимостойкость и большую засухоустойчивость, высокую продуктивность и дружность созревания плодов.
Можно отметить и декоративные достоинства голубики, особенно американских видов. Голубика высокорослая очень эффектно смотрится и во время цветения, и в конце лета, когда покрывается спелыми плодами, и осенью, когда ее листья становятся пурпурными, багровыми или ярко-желтыми. Голубику же низкорослую можно использовать как почвопокровное растение в альпийских и каменистых садиках (при хорошем дренаже).

Для пчеловодов голубика может представлять интерес как один из ранних медоносов.

Сорта
Официально существует 8 сортов голубики топяной: Голубая россыпь, Дивная, Изящная, Иксинская, Нектар- ная, Таежная красавица, Щегарская и Юрковская, отличающиеся друг от друга высотой куста, сроками созревания и размером ягод.

Сортов голубики высокорослой (американской) намного больше: только в США их зарегистрировано более 50, причем в Украине их можно культивировать все, а в условиях средней полосы России — около 20 из них, поскольку некоторые (чаще всего поздние) сорта недостаточно морозоустойчивы. Наиболее зимостойки ранние сорта Блурэй, Блуэтта, Джун, Дюк, Ранкокас, Пионер, Спартак, Уаймут и Эрлиблю; немногим уступают им (подмерзают зимой, но легко восстанавливаются) сорта среднего срока созревания Бэркли, Бонифаций, Блу- кроп, Голдтрауб, Дикси, Патриот и Торо. Южнее средней полосы России можно выращивать поздние сорта Бригитта блу, Блуголд (Синее золото), Герберт, Дарроу, Джерси, Нельсон, Аейтблу и Элиот.

Сорта голубики низкорослой в Украину и Россию почти не завозятся, но посадочный материал может появляться под общим видовым названием. Также в продаже можно найти (обычно в числе сортов голубики американской) самые известные гибридные сорта между голубиками высокорослой и низкорослой — Нортблу, Норт- кантри и Нортленд. Они относятся к сортам раннего срока созревания.

Выбор места
Для выращивания всех видов голубики наиболее приемлемы торфяные почвы с pH 4—4,5, поэтому, если участок расположен на осушенном торфянике, его можно использовать для создания ягодника без окультуривания, как под прочие огородные и садовые растения; если на других землях — в посадочную яму придется засыпать торф или смесь из кислого торфа, листовой земли и хвойной земли в пропорции 3:1:2 слоем не менее 30 см (в этом случае в него желательно добавить и минеральные удобрения, без которых можно обойтись при 50-сантиметровом и более толстом слое). Грунт для голубики высокорослой можно дополнительно подкислить небольшим количеством серы. Нижний, некорнеобитаемый слой грунта (подстилающий горизонт) должен быть водопроницаемым. Уровень залегания грунтовых вод для голубики топяной должен находиться не выше 30 см и не ниже 90 см от уровня почвы; для голубики высокорослой — не выше 40—45 см.

Под закладку ягодника голубики топяной можно отводить как освещенные, так и слегка затененные места, для голубики высокорослой и низкорослой — обязательно хорошо освещенные; для всех видов желательна хорошая защита от ветра.
Важным условием является также доступ на участок пчел и/или шмелей, так как без них плоды не завяжутся.

Способы размножения
Голубику топяную (и голубику низкорослую) чаще всего размножают отводками, образующимися естественным путем из подземных побегов (фактически этот способ представляет собой деление куста). При разделении надо оставлять у отпрыска корневище длиной 5—7 см. Возможно и размножение черенками. Семенное размножение используется крайне редко.

Голубику американского происхождения, такие побеги образовывающую хуже, размножают одревесневшими черенками и прививкой, реже — семенами (при семенном разведении сортовые признаки не наследуются).

При семенном разведении проводится только осенний посев «под снег». Ягоды отжимаются, выдавленные из них семена слегка подсушиваются и высеваются в заранее подготовленные гряды из торфа или упомянутой выше торфо-дерново-хвойной землесмеси. На постоянное место сеянцы можно высаживать на 2-й год.

Посадка, размер посадочной ямы
Для голубики топяной и низкорослой глубина посадочной ямы может составлять 30—50 см при ширине 30—35 см; для голубики американской — 50 х 50 см.

Четких схем посадки голубики топяной не существует, но надо помнить о том, что со временем она способна разрастаться вширь, и потому между растениями желательно оставлять расстояние не менее 1 м. Саженцы голубики высокорослой высаживаются на расстоянии 1,5—2 м друг от друга.

После посадки саженцы надо хорошо полить и по возможности замульчировать почву опилками, сосновой корой или кислым торфом слоем около 10 см. Этот прием является обязательным только для голубики высокорослой, для остальных он просто желателен.

Обрезка, формирование куста
Голубика топяная и низкопослая в омолаживающей обрезке не нуждается, для голубики высокорослой на 6-м году вырезают все нижние и загущающие куст ветки, оставляя 3—5 наиболее развитых и крепких однолетних побегов. Далее эту процедуру повторяют регулярно. Омолаживающая обрезка проводится начиная с 15—20-го года после посадки.

Для всех видов голубики желательно осуществлять санитарную обрезку (удаление слабых, больных и имеющих различные повреждения побегов), особенно в северных регионах, где зимой часть побегов повреждается зимними холодами.
Все виды обрезки лучше проводить весной, в порядке исключения — осенью.

Поливы
Пересыхание почвы выдерживает только голубика низкорослая, поливы надо проводить по мере утраты землей влажности, чем суше и жарче лето — тем чаще. Для одного взрослого кустика голубики топяной требуется 5—7 л воды, для одного-куста голубики высокорослой — 15 л. При этом почва ни в коем случае не должна быть слишком влажной (мокрой).

Подкормки
Голубика топяная и низкорослая нуждается в подкормках лишь в случае появления симптомов дефицита того или иного питательного элемента (что случается крайне редко).

Голубику высокорослую желательно подкармливать ежегодно дважды в год: весной минеральными азотными удобрениями, которые можно как давать в виде раствора, так и разбрасывать по поверхности почвы, а в конце периода активной вегетации — поливая раствором комплексного удобрения.

Прочий уход
Голубика топяная в другом уходе практически не нуждается, даже сорняки вокруг нее стоит удалять лишь в первый год после посадки.

Для голубики высокорослой необходимо регулярное рыхление почвы, которое ввиду высокого залегания корней в грунте проводят на глубину не более чем на 3—5 см, а в северных регионах — укрывание на зиму.

Особенности сбора и хранения урожая
У голубики топяной и низкорослой ягоды не опадают довольно длительное время, поэтому можно дождаться, пока они созреют все, и собрать их за один прием.

У голубики высокорослой плоды на кусте созревают не одновременно и держатся на нем не так долго (немногим менее 2 недель), а потому сбор урожая приходится проводить несколько раз.

Вредители и болезни
Голубика топяная крайне устойчива к грибковым заболеваниям, вредителями-насекомыми она также повреждается довольно редко. Главными ее естественными врагами летом оказываются птицы, а зимой — грызуны. От птиц голубику можно защитить, накрыв куст сеткой, а от грызунов — обвязывать стебли на зиму лапником.

Голубика высокорослая может поражаться также красной пятнистостью и раком стеблей. Если профилактические меры (опрыскивание бордоской жидкостью) не помогли и растения заразились, их надо срочно уничтожить — лечению эти болезни не поддаются.
