Гортензия древовидная была посажена ещё моей мамой лет 20 назад и до сих пор этот кустарник радует нас красивым цветением с июля по сентябрь. Многие называют гортензию древовидную «деревенским» кустарником. Да, этот вид не так изящен, как гортензия метельчатая, соцветия гортензии древовидной не окрашиваются в лиловый или голубой цвет, но эта гортензия имеет другие достоинства.

Во-первых, что важно для нашего климата, гортензия древовидная вполне зимостойка и переносит зимы без какого-либо укрытия. Осенью эту гортензию можно не обрезать, не укрывать и весной, если побеги подмёрзнут, нужно просто обрезать их до здоровых почек. В бесснежные зимы бывало, ветки гортензии вымерзали до основания, но куст быстро восстанавливался, выбрасывая побеги от корней и цветение было не хуже, чем обычно.

Цветение гортензии древовидной происходит на побегах  текущего года, поэтому после зимы потеря веток на кустарнике никак не сказывается.

Как и когда обрезать гортензию древовидную:

— Обрезку гортензии древовидной лучше проводить весной и летом. Весной, когда начнут набухать почки, нужно вырезать все сухие, сломанные, тонкие и загущающие ветки.

— Если гортензия перезимовала на отлично и почки на ветках живые по всей длине, то рекомендуется укоротить ветки на высоте третье или четвёртой почки или общей высоте около 40-50 см.

— Если вы оставите ветки на всю длину, то побегов у гортензии будет много, куст будет густой, но соцветия на нём будут мелкие.

— Если вы хотите получить крупные шаровидные соцветия, то делайте весной короткую обрезку веток и летом вырезайте нулевые побеги, которые будут загущать куст.

Крупные густые соцветия у гортензии настолько тяжёлые, что ветки склоняются под их тяжестью, поэтому куст ближе к осени приходится подвязывать или устанавливать опору для веток.

Куст гортензии древовидной в высоту не превышает 1,5 метров, но с возрастом он разрастается  и достигает в диаметре около 2-х метров.

Соцветия на концах побегов появляются в конце июня, вначале они небольшого размера и зелёного цвета. К августу гортензию украшают крупные густые шапки соцветий молочного цвета, а осенью мелкие цветки в соцветиях вновь зеленеют, но и засохшие они остаются декоративны.

Как размножается гортензия древовидная:

Гортензию можно размножить отделением от куста части корневища с ростками ранней весной. Также можно весной пришпилить боковые ветки к земле и засыпать их. Следующей весной, когда отводки укореняться, можно отрезать ветки от материнского куста и пересадить.

Посадка гортензии:

При посадке гортензии учтите требования этой культуры. Гортензия любит плодородную рыхлую и всегда чуть влажную почву со слабокислой реакцией. Участок для посадки гортензии нельзя известковать или вносить в лунку, доломитовую муку или древесную золу, лучше добавлять перегной, торф, в тяжёлую почву крупный речной песок.

Гортензия пышно цветёт на солнце, но может переносить лёгкую полутень.

Главное для развития гортензии – это достаток влаги. На сухом участке листья у гортензии могут подсыхать, побеги развиваться не высокими и давать мелкие соцветия. Можно гортензию сажать в низине, где скапливается вода после дождя, почва долго остаётся влажной.

Уход за гортензией:

— За всё время гортензия ни разу не поражалась какими-либо болезнями или вредителями, поэтому никаких обработок этот кустарник не требует.

— Уход за гортензией заключается лишь во внесении удобрения весной (обычно это мочевина по 3-4 ложки под куст) и в конце июня, используя любое комплексное удобрение.

— Гортензия любит регулярный полив, рыхление почвы вокруг куста и мульчирование торфом или перегноем.
