Осенью в год посадки пионы мульчируют торфом, песком или перегноем. В дальнейшем растения могут обходиться и без мульчирования. Нельзя закрывать пионы навозом, срезанными листьями, опилками. Подобные материалы создают благоприятную среду для развития болезней.
