Ярко-синие цветки (имеются формы с голубыми, розоватыми и белыми цветками) собраны в густую кисть длиной до 7-8 см. Зацветает в конце мая, цветение продолжается до 45 дней.

Этот вид размножают делением корневищ (осенью) и семенами, которые можно высевать и в грунт, однако всхожесть их в этом случае низкая (10%).

В условиях теплицы при посеве в марте прорастание идет дружно в течение 8-10 дней. Сеянцы пикируют в ящики.

Рассаду высаживают в грунт в мае-июне на расстоянии 30 см друг от друга на плодородной, обеспеченной влагой почве.

Растения зацветают через год, цветут обильно.
