Семейство Розоцветные.

Род Черемуха включает в себя около 20 видов, из которых в культуре и просто в любительских садах как полукультурки выращивается девять, причем большинство — в качестве декоративных растений.

Как плодовые деревья используют четыре вида: наиболее распространенную у нас и по всей европейской части континента черемуху обыкновенную, или черемуху кистевую — ту самую, которую нередко называют «северной красавицей»; черемуху азиатскую (она похожа на черемуху обыкновенную, но имеет совсем другой ареал обитания, охватывающий Восточную Сибирь, Дальний Восток, Монголию, Северный Китай, Корею и Японию); черемуху виргинскую (она же — черемуха розовая) и черемуху позднюю.

Последние два вида растут в Северной Америке и на территории бывшего СССР встречаются в не-значительном количестве, хотя отличаются хорошим качеством плодов. Кроме них существует немало межвидовых гибридов, например гибриды между черемухой обыкновенной (кистевой) и черемухой виргинской. В качестве материала для селекции плодовых культур иногда используют и черемуху Маака, в частности, именно на ее основе создавались первые церападусы.

Существенного значения в производстве плодов черемуха никогда не имела и не имеет, однако благодаря своей зимостойкости и неприхотливости в некоторых регионах ограниченного и рискованного плодоводства является единственным плодовым деревом, которое можно там успешно культивировать. Как дикорос она обитает даже за Полярным кругом.

Биологические особенности
Черемуха обыкновенная (черемуха кистевая) — дерево или кустарник до 15 м высотой. Цветет в апреле—июне, цветки мелкие, белые, очень ароматные. Плоды мелкие (5—19 мм в диаметре), но многочисленные, шаровидные, черные, отличаются терпким, вяжущим вкусом, который частично исчезает при подмораживании и почти полностью — при высушивании.
Черемуха очень зимостойка, почти нетребовательна к почвам и хорошо переносит задымленность и загазованность.

Ценность культуры
Плоды черемухи в свежем виде в пищу используют только в северных регионах, но гораздо чаще их применяют для изготовления напитков и кулинарных изделий, например подмешивают в муку порошок из сухих плодов, после чего тесто приобретает приятный привкус. При этом все остальные части дерева черемухи — листья, цветки, кора и семена — ядовиты.

Плоды черемухи очень полезны, они обладают фитонцидными свойствами, а в их состав входят витамины С (до 37,25 мг на 100 г) и Р, Р-активные соединения, органические кислоты (прежде всего яблочная и лимонная), сахара (до 6 %), дубильные вещества, пектины, антоцианы, флавоноиды и эфирные масла. Еще выше содержание витамина С в листьях черемухи (до 280 мг на 100 г), которые можно заваривать как целебный чай (правда, принимают его в крошечных дозах из-за высокого содержания синильной кислоты).

Плоды и другие части черемухи широко используются в народной медицине. Так, отвар плодов (и кисель из них) применяется как вяжущее средство, свежий сок из них — как ранозаживляющее, в том числе и для гнойных ран (его, кстати, широко использовали в этом качестве во время Великой Отечественной войны), а сушеные плоды входят в состав многих желудочных сборов.

Отвары и настои листьев используют как противокашлевое средство при бронхите и туберкулезе легких, а наружно — при фурункулезе и воспалительных заболеваниях ротовой полости; отвар коры — как мочегонное и потогонное средство и при радикулите; отвар цветков — как противозачаточное средство, а спиртовые настойки из них — как наружное при ревматизме и подагре. Измельченные листья можно также применять в качестве инсектицида.

В косточках черемухи содержится много амигдалина и других эфирных масел (экстракты из них применяются в медицинской промышленности в качестве компонента для многих препаратов, лечащих неврозы).

Кора черемухи в прежние времена широко использовалась для окраски тканей, а тонкие побеги — для изготовления плетеной мебели и сундуков, иногда из них делали даже сани.

И разумеется, наибольшую славу черемухе принесли ее красивые и ароматные цветки. Интересно, что их запах не только приятен, но и способен очищать воздух от болезнетворных микроорганизмов. При этом фитонцидные свойства цветков черемухи настолько сильны, что их запах убивает не только микробы, но и споры плесневых грибков.

Сорта
Районированных сортов черемухи в Госреестрах Украины и России нет, хотя многие из них допущены к выращиванию как плодовые, в частности Ранняя круглая, Самоплодная, Сахалинская устойчивая, Черный блеск и другие.

Агротехника Выбор места
Черемуха может расти и плодоносить как на свету, так и в полутени, но по возможности лучше отвести для нее хорошо освещенное место — там она будет плодоносить обильнее и регулярнее.

Уход
В уходе черемуха практически не нуждается.

Размножение
Размножать черемуху можно семенами (осенью их можно высевать сразу, весной — после длительной стратификации), зелеными черенками и отводками из корневой поросли.

Вредители и болезни
Вредителями и болезнями черемуха из-за бактерицидных и инсектицидных свойств практически не повреждается, более того — защищает от них культуры, растущие по соседству.
