Семена высевают в грунт весной (в мае) или осенью под зиму (в начале ноября).

При подзимнем посеве растения зацветают на 7-10 дней раньше, чем при весеннем, но лучшие результаты можно получить, выращивая астры через рассаду — период их развития от появления всходов до цветения довольно длительный (от 80 до 130 дней).
